After the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic, rider Miguel Oliveira ended an extremely positive weekend today, in which showed clear improvements since Friday. The effort and hard work of the Portuguese rider led him to complete confidence on the part of KTM, now riding the controls of a 100% official motorcycle. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 team is now taking the top spots, finishing the Austrian Grand Prix race by an overwhelming 8th place.
Under rainy weather, the Portuguese rookie started the day with a positive Warm-Up session, finishing in 6th position, giving early signs of a promising race.
In the race, the Portuguese rider initially lost a pair of positions, which eventually recovered with the fall that occurred between Cal Crutchlow and Pol Espargaro. Shortly thereafter, Miguel Oliveira began his fight for more prominent places, overtaking Italian Danilo Petrucci and rider Franco Morbidelli. The superb pace throughout the race also allowed him to reduce the distance for the front riders, leaving behind the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami. In the last couple of turns, the Portuguese rookie was still able to close the gap of more than a second that separated him from Bagnaia, eventually crossing the finish line to less than two tenths of him.
Miguel Oliveira thus achieves his best result of the season, finishing the race as the best KTM. The Portuguese rider now rises 3 places in the championship accounts and is 15th with 26 points.
“Today we had a great race! At first we had some problems and I couldn't go as fast as I wanted to. Moreover, it was a very good race, with several overtakes. My pace was very good, just like yesterday. I am very happy with this result and this first top 10 for me and the team. After all our effort and dedication to understanding the bike, we deserve this result. This turns out to be a positive return for KTM in their home GP. Now we’re going to Silverstone motivated and with positive thinking and feedback.” Miguel Oliveira

The tenth Grand Prix of the 2019 World Motorcycle Championship season was held yesterday in Brno.
Following the close of the Czech Grand Prix, the premier class riders and their teams extended their stay in Brno for an official testing session this Monday.
Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira and his Red Bull KTM Tech3 team took advantage of the day to continue the development and progression of the KTM RC16 by testing new parts and settings, finishing 15th.
“Today we had a very productive day, where we were always in the middle of the table, which is very positive. We didn't focus on having a quick lap time, but we turned out to be equally quick to the other teams. We tried a few new things related to the chassis and the engine and turned out to be very productive about our pace, so we are sure to be in the right direction for the next races. Spielberg is 3 days from now and this is a very beautiful journey because we have all team partners present and it is a weekend where we would particularly like to succeed for all the reasons. I feel we are in the right direction to improve our bike and results.” Miguel Oliveira

After the usual mid-season break, rider Miguel Oliveira ended a very positive weekend today, showing clear improvements since Friday, reaching 4th place in FP1. The hard work of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team is now beginning to pay off with the Czech Grand Prix ending with a very successful race by the Almada rider who finished the race in 13th position.
The Portuguese rookie kicked off the day with a positive Warm-Up session, finishing in 15th position just 0.579 seconds from session leader Andrea Dovizioso, giving early signs of a promising race.
The Portuguese rider started the race with a good start and quickly began to regain positions, making clean and beautiful overtakings over riders such as Johann Zarco and Aleix Espargaro. Miguel Oliveira also escaped early in the race from being involved in a crash that took place between Joan Mir and Morbidelli, then rode much of it in 13th place. The good pace of the Portuguese allowed him to increase consecutively the distance to the back riders, becoming even the fastest KTM on track for a few moments of the race.
“Today we had a hard-fought race with some difficulty maintaining the performance of the lap times with the rear tire grip decreasing. Still, with just one day of work on Friday on dry conditions, the team did a great job of having a competitive bike for the race. We finished just 4 seconds from the best KTM, which is very positive. Starting from behind was what limited me the most in regaining positions, but I made a good first lap, kept my pace and managed to bring the bike to the end with some difficulty, to reach a few more points that is the goal. We leave with great confidence for the next Grand Prix in Austria.” Miguel Oliveira
The MotoGP championship returns with the eleventh round in Austria next weekend on 9, 10 and 11 August.

In the fourth and last free practice session, the Portuguese rookie made his best lap in the 2:06.336 minute, finishing the same in seventeenth position.
The rainy weather did not allow the riders to improve their times, making this Saturday a more slower day than usual.
“Today we had a complicated day and qualification, always with mixed conditions. In Q1 I made the most of rain tires, but with the track very dry. It was a tight qualification and it became tricky to move to Q2. We ended up finishing 16th and tomorrow I believe we managed to finish much better than our starting position. I feel very good on dry conditions, so tomorrow will be a good race. Overall, today was a good day for KTM, occupying the first two front rows.” Miguel Oliveira

The day began with the first morning free practice, in which the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 rider shone brightly as he finished the session in a magnificent fourth place, less than a tenth of first place finisher, Andrea Dovizioso. “Today was a productive day. We had a good session early in the morning, where we were very fast and one of the first to put the soft tire behind, which gave us a small advantage. In the afternoon, our plan was to assess whether the soft tire could make the race distance or not. We did that and in the end we had a quick lap that could have been even better, but we were still very close to the Top 10 and that makes us very happy and with good prospects for tomorrow.” Miguel Oliveira
