Miguel Oliveira dominates Friday at Red Bull Ring

The Austrian Grand Prix started today with the first two free practice sessions. Miguel Oliveira finished this Friday in Spielberg as the best KTM in the squad. For the first time in his debut year in the premier class of MotoGP, the Portuguese rider gained provisional access to Q2.

The day began with the first free practice, in which the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 rookie reached the 10th fastest time, finishing the session just over eight tenths of first place finisher, Andrea Dovizioso.

In the second free practice session, Miguel Oliveira made a great performance, leaving the local base of KTM and Red Bull fans surrendered to his talent. The Almada rider dominated the Red Bull Ring completely, finishing the FP2 as the best KTM in 6th place, less than five tenths from Marc Marquez, the first qualifier of the session.

“Today we had a very positive Friday. Training in the morning was productive and now in the afternoon we had a great session with a good racing pace using the used tires. In the end, we had a good quick lap, which put us for the first time on Friday provisionally in Q2. This is a good result for us in this special Grand Prix for KTM, and it is certainly a great motivation for everyone to continue working and improving tomorrow.” Miguel Oliveira

The qualifiers for the eleventh championship race will take place tomorrow, Saturday, with the first practice of Miguel Oliveira starting at 8:55 am in Portugal. The MotoGP category qualifications are scheduled for 1:30 pm.
