Miguel Oliveira embraces a new chapter with Prima Pramac Yamaha

The highly anticipated unveiling of Miguel Oliveira’s new team, Prima Pramac Yamaha, took place on Friday night in Kuala Lumpur, streamed live on MotoGP’s official YouTube channel. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Malaysia’s towering skyscrapers, the event showcased the team’s new identity, colors, and innovations, marking a fresh start for Yamaha’s satellite structure.

"The beginning of a new season is always a special moment, and I’m highly motivated for this new challenge with Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP. The team's achievement last year, winning the MotoGP riders' championship, was a perfect demonstration of how dedication, hard work, and passion can make all the difference and lead to ultimate success. This team is exceptionally competitive, and with Yamaha’s strong support, I am confident that we can embark on a long-term project that will achieve significant success in a relatively short time," said Miguel Oliveira.

The team, which was crowned the best independent team in MotoGP last year, remains committed to fighting for that same recognition, now reinforced by direct support from Yamaha’s factory program. The new Yamaha YZR-M1 machines will be piloted by Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller, as the team looks to build on its recent momentum.

During the presentation, Yamaha Racing officials emphasized their trust in Miguel Oliveira’s technical expertise and racecraft, recognizing his role as a key asset in accelerating the development of the Iwata prototype, a bike that already showed signs of evolution and improved performance by the end of last season.

Gino Borsoi, Team Director of Prima Pramac Yamaha, highlighted Miguel Oliveira’s impact:

"Miguel Oliveira brings a contrasting technical and stylistic approach that will broaden the development potential of the bike. This diversity will be crucial in achieving our goals."

Paolo Campinoti, Pramac Racing Team Owner, expressed his confidence in the team’s new recruit:

"I would like to welcome Miguel Oliveira, an intelligent, talented, and fast rider who, in recent seasons, has been held back by injuries that prevented him from showing his full potential. I am eager to see him in action with our colors."

At 30 years old, Miguel Oliveira becomes one of the key figures in Prima Pramac Yamaha’s ambitious new project, marking a significant turning point in his career. This transition is not only about joining a new team but also about embracing a new technical challenge. For the first time in his career, the Portuguese rider will switch from a V4 engine to Yamaha’s inline-four powertrain, a major adjustment in riding style and bike dynamics.

"I’m excited to see how this challenge unfolds, and I can’t wait to get on the bike and start working during the winter tests in Malaysia and Thailand. My goal is to be as prepared as possible for the start of the season. I am extremely grateful to Paolo Campinoti, Pramac Racing, and Yamaha for this opportunity, and I promise to give them my very best"  concluded Miguel Oliveira.
