After a positive weekend, Miguel Oliveira returns to fulfill his main objective and returns to the scoring positions, reaching another point in the premier class of the MotoGP World Championship.
The Portuguese rider of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team started Sunday in 19th place, finishing the Warm Up session 1,730 seconds from the first classified of the session, the french Fabio Quartararo.
Miguel Oliveira was confident and pleased with the improvements he made with his KTM RC16, which was confirmed in the race after the same start from the seventeenth position to finish it in 15th place, bringing with him one point of the Grand Prix of France.
With a choice of Slick tires, the Portuguese rookie performed a steady and consistent race, which was marked by some falls due to the difficult conditions that the track presented caused by unstable weather conditions over the weekend. The Almada rider crossed the finish line in the 14th position but finished the race in 15th place due to a 1.5 seconds penalty attributed by a shortcut between corners 9 and 10.
"It was a complicated race. This weekend we did not have much time in dry conditions and therefore the setting turned out to be not ideal. We were able to do a positive race with a better pace than the one I did this morning at the Warm Up. We made small changes to the bike to help me feel more comfortable and faster but overall it was a complicated weekend . In the end I received a penalty of a second and a half for having cut the chicane at the beginning of the race and the race direction decided that I got time in that maneuver. Let's see what the final decision is, but it's a penalty that I do not agree with. Now it is time to think about the next race and to analyze the way we have to go to the future." Miguel Oliveira
