Miguel Oliveira focused on qualifying in Austin

Characterized as one of the most complex circuits in the MotoGP World Championship, the Circuit of the Americas is this weekend the center of attention for the lovers of motorcycling.

After an excellent performance by Miguel Oliveira at the Grand Prix of Argentina, the third grand prix of the 2019 season began today with the start of the first two practice sessions in Austin.

During the first free practice session, the Portuguese rider made his best time in the minute 2'08.035, closing the time table in the twentieth position, 2m724s of the first classified, Marc Marquez.

The rookie of the queen category managed to improve his registration between FP1 and FP2, reducing his best time in 1,759 seconds. Miguel Oliveira finished the second session of free practice in the 21st position, with his best time around in minute 2'06.276.

"We definitely had a tough day here in Austin. This is a very complicated track. It is necessary to know all the details and at the moment me and the team are working very hard, so that we understand the best alternatives to take always in order to obtain the best possible result. We are working to understand which are the best trajectories to do and which are the most beneficial settings to make on the bike. It's normal the first day not to be terrific, especially here in Austin. It is necessary to realize which is the best setup to use and we are working hard as always to get the best result. Qualifications for the third round of the championship will take place tomorrow, Saturday, with the first training sessions of Miguel Oliveira, scheduled to begin at 15.55. MotoGP qualifications are due at 8:10 p.m.
